"History is a vast early warning system"

I try hard not to fall for conspiracy theories. Series of events which lend themselves to be woven into such theories are fairly common. Like an optical illusion picture which looks like one thing viewed one way, a squinting of the eye brings something else entirely into view. Sometimes though, a series of events, conversations or coincidental reading of something quite unrelated to the original topic, link up and one thinks...."HUH?....Hmmm!" Synchronicity - or something.

This happened to me a few days ago. Following the debt ceiling debacle in Washington DC, reading some comments on an article at at Common Dreams, I came across this from commenter "Diana" (I've added dates):
The SuperCongress is the most frightening act of governance I've heard about in my lifetime, the final phase of the coup (coup d'etat.)
Phase I could be any number of timepoints, but starting with contemporary politics, I'd say it is:

Phase I = the Supremes giving the presidency to Bush (2000)

Phase II = 9/11 (2001)

Phase III = Neoliberals/corportists install the perfect trojan horse obama into office (2008)

Phase IV = Citizens' United (2010)

Phase Out = SuperCongress (2011)

I responded:
"Diana ~ The Super Congress is the thing that started loud alarm bells ringing for me too. I hadn't yet linked it to the progression you suggest, but it all fits; and one doesn't need to be a conspiracy theorist to see it."
(This "super congress" was mentioned in Wednesday 3 August's post.)

A little later, while looking for something quite unrelated, among entries on a page of quotes, I saw this:
"What no one seemed to notice. . . was the ever widening gap. . .between the government and the people. . . And it became always wider. . . the whole process of its coming into being, was above all diverting, it provided an excuse not to think for people who did not want to think anyway . . . (it) gave us some dreadful, fundamental things to think about . . and kept us so busy with continuous changes and 'crises' and so fascinated . . . by the machinations of the 'national enemies,' without and within, that we had no time to think about these dreadful things that were growing, little by little, all around us. ...Each step was so small, so inconsequential, so well explained or, on occasion, 'regretted,' that unless one understood what the whole thing was in principle, what all these 'little measures'. . . must some day lead to, one no more saw it developing from day to day than a farmer in his field sees the corn growing. . . .Each act. . . (was) worse than the last, but only a little worse. You wait for the next and the next. You wait for one great shocking occasion, thinking that others, when such a shock comes, will join you in resisting somehow.” -- Excerpted From Milton Mayer’s book, They Thought They Were Free, The Germans, 1938-45 (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 1955)

I felt a cold shiver. I haven't read that book, a study of the lives of a group of ordinary Germans under the Third Reich, but intend to seek it out.

Deciding to investigate any astrological similarities between Germany in the years around 1933 and USA in the 21st century, Google led me to an archived post (Feb. 2011) of fellow astrology blogger Jude Cowell at Stars Over Washington Jude has set out the situation better than I ever could:
I'll copy a few lines here, but a reading of the post in full is necessary to get the whole astro picture:
The spiritual emphasis of the events and social conditions of 1933 resonate with those of 2011 through the sharing of a generational Uranus/Pluto square (to be discussed more fully below) and which undergirds the upheavals and protests now occurring throughout the world, and made easier to organize with the tech aid of Twitter and FaceBook.............................................................

As a message to us in 2011, 1933's Uranus to Neptune (in Aries, sign of uprisings, riots, strikes, protests, and pioneers - tr Uranus approaches the Aries Point as I type) transit typifies an era when a spiritually-inspired aspiration to fulfill high ideals is needed by the people, yet the freedom to express social, political, religious, artistic, musical, divine, and/or other ideals is suppressed, potentially disappearing altogether.

Neptunian circumstances of loss and grief were a long time coming (then as now) as traditions and bonds of family, church, communal sense/commonwealth, marriage, partnership, etc, were slowly eroded making them easier to topple (then as now; Hitler's desire to establish a worldwide 'new world order' shows him as the military arm of a long-standing movement toward global fascism and one-world-government - as you have noticed, they're baa-a-a-ack... - never having really gone away.)

I'm not sure how to wrap this up, except to finish, as I started, with the heading:

History is a vast early warning system.

GP:In your post of Aug 3 I commented "these hypnotic forces" ... there you are, all over the world, financial markets (only reacting to all the rest which is going on) are ever getting more synchronized!

PS. As per chance Angela Merkel (a German) is playing a key rôle in trying to resist more free spending by irresponsible (or conspiratory) politicians. As some French humorist once said "après moi, les mouches" - after me let the flies come - as probably most politicians are thinking these days.

Follow the money...eh?

Never mind les mouches...après moi la guillotine might be a better outcome for us all!

GP: In a normal world (when I grew up, I guess), parents were teaching children to live within their means (i.e. pocket money alloted). Then came Keynes with a "funeste idea" that when things were turning difficult, all governments had to do was to spend more. AND ALL POLITICIANS LIKED THAT!

Here in Brazil over 90% of families now only repay the minimum monthly repayment quota needed to keep their credit card going. And pay interest of around 12% PER MONTH (!) to stay over water. Who gains obviously are the banks and their associates, including a so-called left government, who's main financial contributors are, you guessed it, the banks...

It sounds as though Brazil will follow the pattern of Europe and the US then.

Do you, GP, see any pattern forming between what went on in Germany in the 1930s and current events in USA, and maybe other western nations? It does look ominously similar, and that we're on a path (accidental or pre-determined) towards some kind of fascism - maybe not like the last version or any version seen before - but something quite nasty?

Hi Twilight! Thanks for quoting my post and recommending it. It's been almost 6 years that I've been posting on such topics & it's painful now to find how many people are finally paying attention to sinister events in the US--because it's become so obvious, as you note.

(Have you compared a chart for the Reichstag Fire to that of 9/11? That's a post I never want to publish but perhaps must at some point--chilling.)

But one of the next things on this sinister timeline will be to post on the upcoming Solar Ecl of Nov 2011...another one I'd prefer to neglect. We're going to miss America if she disappears as the globalists intend.

Anyway, thanks again--I much appreciate being included on your excellent blog! Jude

GP: You're asking difficult questions about the future and especially about possible "financial meltdown cum subsequent fascism-type of world governance.

Pluto's transit in Capricorn and the ongoing Neptune in Pisces (just retrograded into Aquarius but not for long) and Uranus in Aries, squaring Pluto for a long time are difficult to interpret. However one can imagine (speculate = look into the speculum = cristal ball) that:

Pluto in Cap. square Uranus in Aries, both cardinal signs, should shake up a number of things at the roots. The financial supremacy of the US (heavily influenced by Neptune, as is Wall Street), is probably over for good. The lack of leadership in world finances and the rapidly increasing synchronization of fearful anticipation is also a Neptunian phenomenon. Europe is not able to team up to a valid entity within the Western world. China looks to be surging in world dominance but (3x but):

1) Their proper regime may well implode. Capitalist forces at work there are very corrosive of communist controls.

2) Russia and its oil-rich allies will create difficulties for China

3) The allies China has in the "BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) are no real allies. If there should be a financial meltdown they will all follow the West in its downturn. Add to that that the world population is projected to double by 2030, mostly in Africa...

Re. Brazil's economy: it's striving right now. Lots of credit and the gap between rich and poor is AUGMENTING in reality. Contrary to what the government claims. The middle class is expanding, that is a fact, but no-one there feels to be comfortable financially. As I said: the vast majority is at pains to keep their credit card ratings going. A serious downturn elsewhere will be catastrophic for many Brazilians.

One has to hope that I am wrong in my interpretation of what the heavy Planets might do.

Jude Cowell - Hi there! Thanks for adding your thoughts on this - much appreciated.

With your experience and knowledge I'm not surprised you've been a bit "ahead of the curve" as it were.

As I've been here only since 2004, I'm still reeling a bit from the thought that these things could actually be going on, right under our noses. I'm beginning to see the shape of things more clearly now.

I haven't looked at the charts you mention, but will do so - when I feel able to take another dose of
"YIKES-ness!"

Looking at the picture nationally is bad enough - but then expanding the pattern globally is even more disconcerting. I shall watch and wait, watch and learn.

Anonymous/Gian Paul ~~ Thanks for taking the tim to respond so fully.

Yes, the positioning of the outer planets has to be at root of it all astrologically, for sure.

Those planets move so slowly that it's hard for us to see things clearly until a long, long time after events. I suppose the things you outline in your comment, re China etc. would take place gradually, over very long periods rather than in bursts of unexpectedness, and the true shape of it all won't be visible until maybe 200 years hence.

Even the way the future will unfold just in the USA is hard to see, with more than a few "red herrings" around to distract our attention. It's not a good direction though, can't see how it could be......without, perhaps a really powerful uprising of The People to force a change of direction.

Because Uranus is involved the unexpected is going to play a part - and that, as far as I can see, is the only hopeful factor in a dismal scenario. We've been talking about "the expected" here - so maybe we're overlooking a possibility. :-)

It gives me shivers, T, to see my thinking on your blog today. Fascism arrives stealthily and never with a bang.
Not to mention the Bush family connection to the Nazis back in the day....

WWW ~~~~ Yes, quietly, gradually, and as Sinclair Lewis wrote: "wrapped in a flag........" etc. Or we might say "wearing a flag in its lapel".

Whether it's pre-planned, accidental, or a natural progression, it's becoming ever more clear that "something is happening here", something just beyond the obvious.

One side of the drama, only -- terrifying, but still, there are more dynamics involved than only a repeat of history.

Pluto in Capricorn = the destruction and collapse of the status quo. To my knowledge, we did not have Pluto in Capricorn mid 20th century.

Uranus in Aries = revolution by every single person. AND remember, we have the Aries Point contact with the Galactic Center going on, and we did NOT have that during WW2 Hitler era. So the "self" that is being touched by Uranus is not the same 'self' as mid 20th century. A cosmic self, collective self, is emerging (Neptune Pisces), and this cosmic, collective, connected to the whole of life 'self' is a VERY different individual feeling the revolutionary Uranus touch than the mid-20t century.

I am in no way contesting the demise of democracy (and am impressed by the identified Phases!). What I am saying is that the OUTCOME may be different this time.

Dare to imagine that 'world war three' is non-violent -- that would be the most revolutionary (Uranus) act of ALL.

I have had a horrible, sinking feeling up here in Canada ever since the police tactics at the G8 summit. I have a bad feeling that Harper being re-elected and our troops returning home in mass numbers is in preparation for something that is going to cause citizen uprising in this country.

Twilight said...

Mimi K ~~~ Oh, I agree that we're not looking at an exact repeat.
As I read your comment a quote I've used here before jumped into my mind: "History doesn't repeat itself - but it does rhyme" - Mark Twain I think.

Everything is different this time around, here down below, as well as the differences above. Still, there ARE similarities in how people are feeling, and not acting.

What struck me most in all of this was the comparison of the way ordinary people in Germany are reported to have been feeling in the 1930s, as described in the excerpt from Mayer's book - passivre, letting it all happen - which matches what we are seeing here now. And we know what happened next in the 30s.....it IS an early warning, but we're not sure of what...

Thanks for your thoughtful comments. :-)
