Today is the birthday of singer/songwriter Lionel Richie, born 20 June 1949 in Tuskegee, Alabama.
He was born right on the cusp of Gemini and Cancer, less than a full degree from the sign of the crab.

His maternal grandmother taught music at Tuskegee University. The programme's focus was on her ancestry and a surrounding mystery of her father's identity. The trail led to Nashville where Richie discovered that his great-grandfather had helped sow the seeds of the Civil Rights movement.
